Birch Tree Yoga & Therapy Centre
In Brief
I have a deep love for meditation and have an almost daily practice, i love to walk, practice yoga and always have a deep yearning to be in water (rivers, lakes the sea & ocean)

I love napping, reading books, planting trees and plants to nourish ourselves and the land, writing, picnics, camper van adventures, learning and everything outdoors.. i believe deeply in rest and am a passionate advocate for naps, restorative yoga and yoga nidra. I have spent my life working directly or indirectly working on issues of gender and this is a feature of all my work.. i love working with women around times of change.

In recent years I've become more interested in ancestral skills and knowledge which has led me towards foraging, basket making and wilding the space around me.
Who & Why
Birch Tree Yoga was set up by me.. Emma Jane Hoey to provide a range of affordable and high quality classes, workshops and therapies.
The Centre was built using sustainable materials and uses environmentally friendly and ethical resources and processes. The fair payment exchange is a really important feature of my work- wanting to provide excellent services in an affordable way for the local community.
In trying to achieve a suitable environment to practice Yoga the location is crucial, from the start of the client’s journey right through to the end. The drive, cycle or walk to the studio in this location is like a nature walk in itself. In developing this studio we are trying to create a relaxing and tranquil space for people to take time out of their busy daily schedule to learn how to relax.
The studio represents a natural and environmentally conscious space for the local community and its environs which is easily accessible and yet remote and tranquil making it the ideal location
The landscape and tranquility of the location acting as an integral part of the therapy.
Birch Tree Yoga grew out of a dream to work in a more holistic way.. I had worked in Community Development for 20 years in a range of roles before finally moving into therapy work and yoga full time. my community work was vast working on issues such as ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, domestic violence, community engagement, youth work, unemployment, education and at local regional national and European level. I came to Community work because of my passion for human rights and equality
Throughout my time in community work I was always working part time or training in wellness training in Reiki and core empowerment training
in 1995 and 1996 before undertaking further training in:
Reflexology, Pregnancy Reflexology & Fertility Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Natural Facial, Yoga 200hr & 500hr, Pregnancy Yoga, Meditation Training, Holistic Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Deep Tissue Cupping, Aromatherapy
Lava Shell Massage & Warm Bamboo Massage
Continued professional development is crucial to us as therapists to challenge ourselves to be better and to be able to continue the work safely. I have always been a member of a professional reflexology and or massage Institute (currently a member of MIRI)

I am as always up to my knees in training, at the minute., starting my Herbalism foundation course with the Heartwood Foundation and and lots of wild foraging after the 6 day immersion with Wild Awake
